Mijn vader sprak ooit de volgende wijze woorden: ”Alle goede rockmuziek is te herleiden tot de blues”. Deze uitspraak vond ik toen wat kortzichtig, maar hoe ouder ik word, des te meer kan ik mij in zijn oordeel herplaatsen. Hoe zouden Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones en zelf Nirvana en Nick Cave klinken zonder hun kennismaking met grootheden als Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, B.B.
